Places that accept Medicaid, by city

Only places certified by Medicaid or listed with a Medicaid program in Wyoming’s records.

Wyoming is a big state with few people. Because of that, the right care setting is sometimes several hours from home. Knowing the names the state uses and who to call will save your family time.

What care settings are called here

All of them are licensed by Healthcare Licensing and Surveys, the licensing and inspections office of the Aging Division of the Wyoming Department of Health (WDH). Phone: (307) 777-7123.

  • Assisted Living Facility: this is assisted living. It offers a room, meals, personal help, and some nursing care. Some have a secure unit for people with dementia.
  • Boarding Home: a home with rooms and meals, plus help with daily activities like bathing or dressing. It does not provide nursing care.
  • Adult Foster Care Home: a family home that takes in a few adults.
  • Adult Day Care: a day center that cares for adults and keeps them company during the day. The person goes home to sleep.
  • Nursing Care Facility: the official name for a nursing home, with 24-hour nursing care.

The WDH publishes a directory of licensed facilities in PDF and Excel, updated in October 2026. It also offers a portal with inspection reports. Checking the license and inspections is a normal step to help you choose with peace of mind.

How Medicaid helps in Wyoming

Besides covering nursing home care, Wyoming Medicaid has the Community Choices Waiver (CCW). This program pays for services at home, at an adult day center, and also in an Assisted Living Facility.

According to the official CCW fact sheet (July 2026), the requirements are:

  • Be 65 or older, or between 19 and 64 with a disability.
  • Need a nursing home level of care. This is measured through an assessment by a public health nurse.
  • Have income of up to 300% of the Federal Benefit Rate.

Where to apply:

  • CCW office (HCBS Section): (307) 777-7531 or (800) 510-0280.
  • Long-term care eligibility unit: 1-855-203-2936.
  • For Medicaid in general, go to wesystem.wyo.gov or call 1-855-294-2127.

Who to call

  • Long-Term Care Ombudsman (a free and confidential advocate for residents). Wyoming doesn't have one central line. Call the state office (307-287-7757) or your regional office: Riverton, 1-800-856-4398; Casper, 1-877-634-1006; Cheyenne, 1-877-634-1005.
  • WDH Aging Division (the state office on aging): (800) 442-2766.
  • Wyoming 211: dial 2-1-1 or call 888-425-7138.
  • Eldercare Locator (national line): 1-800-677-1116.

Tips for your family

  • Plan for distance. There are few licensed adult day centers in the state. If your loved one needs one, ask early which one is closest.
  • Talk with your county's senior center. Many local services are requested right there.
  • Ask about caregiver support. The National Family Caregiver Support Program offers respite care and support groups. Call (800) 442-2766 to find out if it reaches your county.
  • If you plan to use the CCW, ask from the start whether the residence you're interested in accepts this program.
