Guided search

Five questions. Clear options, with the reasons why.

We ask what kind of help you need, where, how your loved one is doing, how you plan to pay and when you need it. Then we sort places using official data and explain why each one appears. We don’t ask for your name, phone number or email.

Start the guided search

It works with fixed rules and public data. It’s guidance, not a medical assessment: also talk with your loved one’s doctor or the hospital social worker.

Frequently asked questions

Is it really free for families?
Yes. We don’t charge you anything or ask for your information to search. You call the place you’re interested in directly. If a provider pays for hogaresparamayores.com tools in the future, it will be a flat fee: never a commission when your loved one moves in, and it never changes the order of the results. See how we work.
Where does the data come from?
From Medicare (CMS), which certifies and inspects nursing homes, and from the state licensing records of 34 states, District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. Every listing shows its source and date. Sources and methodology.
How does the guided search work?
It asks you five questions, sorts places using fixed rules and public data, and explains why each one appears. It doesn’t ask for personal information. It’s guidance, not a medical assessment: also talk with your loved one’s doctor or the hospital social worker.
Do you cover every state?
For nursing homes, yes: all 14,690 certified by Medicare or Medicaid in the 50 states, Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico. For assisted living and residential care, 34 states, District of Columbia and Puerto Rico; for adult day centers, 17 states and Puerto Rico. In the other states, the state doesn’t publish a registry we can download and verify; we add states as they do.
How much does a nursing home cost in the United States?
The 2025 national median is $315 a day for a semi-private room and $355 for a private room; assisted living is $6,200 a month (CareScout 2025). It varies a lot by state. See the costs in your state.
Does Medicare pay for a nursing home?
Medicare pays for short rehab stays in a skilled nursing facility after a hospital stay, not for long-term care. Medicaid can pay for a nursing home if the person qualifies. We explain the difference.
