Transparency: how we work

We don’t charge you anything. Here is how we are funded and how we order results, because you have a right to know.

How we make money

hogaresparamayores.com is free for families. We will be funded by a flat monthly fee plan for providers that want extra tools (notifications from families who choose to contact them, statistics history and priority review). Completing a listing, reporting availability, seeing the month’s statistics and using the badge are free. We don’t charge commissions when someone moves into a place, and we don’t get paid for each contact. Today, no provider pays hogaresparamayores.com.

WhoWhat they pay
Your familyNothing, ever
Provider with a planFlat monthly fee (to be posted here before sign-up opens); no commission or per-contact fee
Provider without a planNothing: it is still listed with its official data

How we order results

The order depends on what you told us (the type of place that usually fits that situation, coverage and urgency), on the Medicare star rating when there is one, and on the information the provider itself published (services, languages and current availability). Paying for a plan never changes the order. If we ever show ads, they will be kept separate and labeled “Sponsored.”

What we never do

  • Recommend only those who pay us.
  • Hide a place because it doesn’t pay us, or change official data for no reason.
  • Pass your information to a provider without your express permission.
  • Pay or charge doctors, hospitals or social workers for referring patients.

Editorial independence

Our guides are written from official sources (Medicare, Medicaid, the IRS, the Census Bureau, state agencies) and reviewed before they are published. Providers cannot review or change our content.

What we are not

We are not a health care provider, an insurance company, a government agency or an emergency service. The guidance on hogaresparamayores.com does not replace advice from a doctor, a social worker or a lawyer. In an emergency, call 911.

Who is Marisol?

Marisol is the site’s illustrated guide: she puts a face on the guided search and the help pages. She is not a real person and does not work at any facility, and hogaresparamayores.com does not offer chat or phone support. What Marisol “says” is fixed text from the site; to talk to a place, call the number on its listing.
